Excellent among shrubs and trees in partial shade. Evergreen in mild winter areas. Drought tolerant once established.Various species of the genus Hypericum have been used since ancient times as herbal remedies. This species has been used traditionally to reduce muscle spasms and for the treatment of asthma. Horticulture professor Allan Armitage calls the species "one of the finest ground covers available".
