Herbs- Sage ‘Berggarten’
Pungent flavor and aroma make 'Berggarten' a culinary favorite. More compact than other species, the oval leaves are larger than typical garden sage. The foliage takes on a purplish cast in full sun.
This Sage rarely blooms and this helps to extend the harvest. Trim often by taking three or four inches of new growth. It is unadvisable to prune into old woody growth because this may stress the plant to the point of death. Also, avoid late fall pruning. This opens the plant up to winter's cold and may also be fatal.
Attractive and useful in herb gardens, mixed borders and containers, this German Sage is easy to grow and makes a beautiful evergreen perennial.
Grows best in full sun, well draining soil and can withstand frost. Even better, it is both drought tolerant and deer resistant!
It was healthy and well-packed. Is thriving now in the pot on my deck.
