This fern gets its name from the fuzzy rhizomes that grow on top of the soil, resembling a rabbit’s foot. The appeal is that the rhizomes grow over the side of the pot, adding interest. Functional as well as decorative, the rhizomes absorb moisture and nutrients as they crawl across the moist soil.
Growing a rabbit’s foot fern as a houseplant is easy compared to many other ferns. Just keep the humidity up by misting the leaves and never place near a heat or air vent. Keep soil moist but not soggy.
One of our most popular ferns!
