This beautiful plant earned its common name from the fact that the leaves tend to fold together at night, like a pair of praying hands.
Prayer plant is a low, spreading plant that's perfect in hanging baskets, but will also grow horizontally along a tabletop or other surface. It's a slow grower, so you don't have to worry about it growing out of bounds.
