Calathea roseopicta ‘Medallion’
Calathea roseopicta ‘Medallion’ is a cultivar of calathea selected for round leaves with brilliant markings, resembling a medallion.
Your Calathea Medallion will do best in medium to bright indirect light. Never allow this plant to stand in the direct sunlight—the leaves will get sunburned!
For best results, maintain a regular watering schedule and keep your Calathea Medallion moist, but not wet or saturated. This is not a drought tolerant indoor plant, but it is relatively forgiving if you forget to water it from time to time. Extended periods of dryness can result in brown leaf tips or edges.
Calatheas are non-poisonous plants and are safe for humans, cats, and dogs.
I was worried when the shipping box arrived severely dented. When I opened the package, two plants, including the Calathea roseoptica (Medallion), were well insulated and in very good condition. After I released them from their wrapping, they settled into their new pots easily. The Calathea roseoptica began shifting and responding to the light within the first few hours of being re-potted. It is full in color, healthy, and always stretching. The soil in which the plan arrived was rich and dark. This was a great purchase.
